MTA ACT is recognised by the ACT Government and Government departments as the only legitimate representative of the ACT motor trades.
Our Executive Director Mick Gentleman meets regularly with the various Government Ministers and heads of departments to influence the design, implementation and maintenance of legislation, policy and standards that affect and regulate the ACT Motor Trades.
MTA ACT also has good working relationships with federal politicians and federal agencies whose activities impact on our members.
MTA ACT has worked with EPA to develop a draft code of practice to assist Motor traders to manage environmental issues such aslicensing of motor traders, motor industry: chemical storage, spill management, oil and fuel storage, stormwater protection, wastewater, water conservation, waste management,air quality, vehicle air conditioning, spray painting, noise management, energy efficiency,environmental management planning.
MTA ACT continues to work with the ACT Office of Regulatory Services on issues such as the development, implementation and promotion of the new ACT Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Code of Practice.
MTA ACT also assists with the regulation of the industry by educating our members about the code and managing consumer inquiries about service from MTA Members.
