Longstanding Experience

Owner and Managing Director Niall Robb has been in the industry for over forty years. 

Niall started his apprenticeship in 1968 with a Ford Dealership in Canberra and completed training with a Nissan Dealership.  He has worked across the full range of automotive services being a mechanic, a leading hand and foreman in dealerships and in service stations and of course running his own mechanical business.

Niall spent 15 years working in the transport industry with heavy vehicles but returned to the mechanical trade prior to purchasing this business in 2002.  Niall and the staff continue to attend Auto trade workshops to ensure they are trained in the latest techniques.

N & D’s four fully qualified mechanics and adult apprentice have backgrounds across the range of mechanical services in places from as far away as Zimbabwe and Wales. Between Niall, foreman Colin Cumberland and N & D’s qualified mechanics and apprentice, there is over 100 years’ experience and expertise in the business.

Commitment to the ACT

Niall and his wife Dorothy are long-standing Canberra residents, having lived in the Territory since the early 70s.  They bought the business from the previous owner (Colin Ogilvie) in 2002. Niall is keen to provide ACT residents with good quality workmanship at a competitive price. He believes in ethical, fair, courteous and honest relationships with his customers, suppliers and staff.

All Your Automotive Service Needs

N & D offers a one stop service for our customers including tyres, wheel balancing and alignment, brakes, steering, suspension, tuning including injection service.  They are long time members of the MTA (Motor Trades Association), IAME (Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers), ARACTA (Australian Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trade Association) and they hold a Refrigerant Trading Authorisation and are registered under the Fair Trading Act 1992 (Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Industry Code of Practice).

Vehicle owners can book a pre-purchase check with N & D including a Repco 150 point written comprehensive vehicle condition report.  They can also arrange, auto electrical, engine reconditioning and towing.  They have 3 diagnostic scan tools for engine management diagnosis for all vehicles including 4WD, light trucks and commercial vehicles.
